Man Arrested After Violent Carjacking Incident in Apple Valley, California
A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at a Shell Gas Station located at 8986 Deep Creek Road in Apple Valley, California. A 28-year-old man, identified as Jacob Naro from Pueblo, Colorado, was arrested after carjacking a woman and leading police on a dangerous pursuit.
The Carjacking
According to reports, Naro approached a woman at the gas station and attempted to grab her cellphone. When the victim resisted, Naro forcibly took her car keys and pushed her to the ground. He then proceeded to steal her black 2014 Mustang GT and fled the scene. A brave gas station employee tried to intervene, but Naro pushed him out of the vehicle and drove off.
The Pursuit
Deputies quickly located the stolen Mustang and initiated a pursuit. Naro drove recklessly, endangering other motorists by driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, and showing a complete disregard for public safety. The pursuit came to an end when Naro stopped the vehicle at a Del Taco on Highway 138 near Interstate 15 and surrendered to law enforcement without further incident.
Legal Consequences
Jacob Naro was taken into custody and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of robbery, carjacking, felony evading, and evading by driving in opposite lanes of traffic. He is currently being held on a bail amount of $100,000. Thankfully, neither the carjacking victim nor the gas station employee required medical treatment.
