Colorado Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Mustang in San Bernardino County
A man from Colorado found himself in handcuffs at a Del Taco location after allegedly stealing a Mustang from a woman at a gas station in San Bernardino County. The incident unfolded at the Shell station located at 8986 Deep Creek Road in Apple Valley.
Suspect’s Alleged Actions
According to a media release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect, identified as Jacob Naro of Pueblo, Colorado, approached a customer standing near her vehicle and attempted to grab her cellphone. When the victim resisted, Naro grabbed her 2014 Mustang GT car keys and pushed her to the ground.
Naro then ran towards the victim’s vehicle and tried to start the engine. A gas station employee intervened, but Naro pushed the employee out of the vehicle and drove away.

Police Pursuit
Deputies located the stolen Mustang and initiated a pursuit. During the chase, Naro drove recklessly, going on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic signals, and showing complete disregard for public safety.
The pursuit eventually came to an end at a permanently closed Del Taco store near CA-138 and the 15 Freeway in the community of Phelan. Naro was swiftly taken into custody without further incident.
Legal Consequences
After his arrest, 28-year-old Naro was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of robbery, carjacking, felony evading, and evading by driving in opposite lanes of traffic. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
