Woman Arrested in Scotland Neck After Leading Police on Chase

A woman was taken into custody on Friday in Scotland Neck after she led officers on a chase and was found to be driving with a revoked license, according to local police authorities.

Sgt. Lawrence was on his routine patrol in Scotland Neck when he attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding near Grasunan Road. The driver, later identified as Erica Hines from the Scotland Neck area, disregarded the officer’s signal to stop and instead accelerated, prompting Sgt. Lawrence, Officer Phelps, and Police Chief Parker to engage in a brief pursuit, as stated in the official news release.

Discovery of Suspended License and Arrest Warrant

Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials discovered that Hines’ driver’s license had been suspended and that she had an outstanding arrest warrant from Pitt County. Shockingly, it was also revealed that there was an unrestrained child seated in the passenger area of the vehicle.

Charges Faced by Erica Hines

Following her apprehension, Erica Hines was formally charged with multiple offenses, including felony flee to elude, disregarding blue lights and siren, misdemeanor child abuse, driving with a revoked license, resisting a public officer, failure to secure a child, and speeding.

Judicial Proceedings and Bonds Set
