Following the gunshot, a 911 call was made to the New London Police Department, who quickly responded to the scene. They discovered the broken window and a projectile resting on a closet shelf inside the residence, indicating a targeted attack.

The mastermind behind the shooting was Shaquan Lee-Seales, who was already serving time in prison for an unrelated offence. The presiding judge, Shari A. Murphy, sentenced him to an additional 20 years in prison, which will be served consecutively to his current term.
