The man injured in a shooting by Portland police on Wednesday has been identified as 44-year-old Patrick W. Myers. The incident occurred during a search warrant operation in the Russell neighbourhood of Northeast Portland. Myers exited a home with a rifle and was shot by a member of the Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team. He is currently recovering in the hospital and is the subject of a sex crimes investigation. Myers has been indicted on six counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse and one count of encouraging sexual assault of an animal. Man Identified in Portland Police Shooting

The man injured in a shooting by Portland police on Wednesday has been identified as 44-year-old Patrick W. Myers. The incident took place in the Russell neighborhood of Northeast Portland, where police were serving a search warrant early in the morning.

Details of the Shooting

According to police reports, the shooting occurred around 6 a.m. when Myers emerged from a home on Northeast 137th Avenue carrying a rifle. A member of the Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team then shot and injured him at 6:08 a.m.

The Investigation

Authorities have revealed that Myers was the subject of a sex crimes investigation and had been indicted on multiple charges, including second-degree encouraging child sex abuse and encouraging sexual assault of an animal. As of Thursday, Myers was recovering in a hospital from his injuries.
