A man has been charged with fleeing from police after breaking into multiple vehicles in Salisbury. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. when police responded to reports of individuals attempting to enter cars on Keystone Drive. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Ke’shawn Omarion Mason, fled in a vehicle at high speed but was apprehended by officers on U.S. Highway 29. Mason faces multiple charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, breaking and entering, possessing stolen goods, and fleeing arrest. He was taken to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office and given a $105,000 bond. The juvenile passenger was also charged and placed in custody.

Man Arrested for Fleeing from Police After Attempted Vehicle Break-Ins

In a recent incident that occurred in the early hours of the morning, a man has been charged by the Salisbury Police Department for fleeing from the scene after attempting to break into multiple vehicles. The incident took place in the quiet residential area of the 1300 block of Keystone Drive in Salisbury.

Police Response and Pursuit

The police were alerted to the situation at around 4:30 a.m. when reports came in of two individuals trying to gain access to parked cars in the neighbourhood. Major Justin Crews, the public information officer for the Salisbury Police Department, stated that upon arrival, officers witnessed a vehicle hastily leaving the area.

In an attempt to apprehend the suspects, the officers followed the vehicle as it sped away at high speed along U.S. Highway 29. The pursuit continued until the vehicle finally came to a stop at the intersection of N.C. Highway 152 in China Grove.

Arrest and Charges

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Ke’shawn Omarion Mason, along with a juvenile passenger, were taken into custody by the officers. Mason was subsequently charged with a range of offences, including felony conspiracy to commit a felony, felony breaking and entering into vehicles, and felony fleeing to elude arrest.

Additionally, Mason faces charges of misdemeanor child abuse, misdemeanor reckless driving, and driving without a valid operator’s license. It was also discovered that the vehicle he was driving had been reported as stolen, leading to a charge of felony possession of stolen goods.

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, Mason was taken to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, where he was given a bond of $105,000 by Magistrate Benjamin Franklin. He was then transferred to the Rowan County Detention Center to await further legal proceedings.

The juvenile passenger was also charged in connection with the incident and was placed in secure custody at the Cabarrus Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The Salisbury Police Department continues to investigate the case to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
