According to a joint press release from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Police Chief James Cogan, the authorities were alerted about a reported abduction of a 16-year-old girl by her stepfather, Juliano Santana, 49. Santana, who had previously been accused of sexually assaulting the girl, was awaiting trial on those charges.
The police, acting swiftly on the information, tracked Santana’s location through his probation officer, who was able to pinpoint him using a GPS monitoring device linked to the pending assault case. The tragic saga unfolded in a parking lot on Great Road, where Santana and the girl were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside his vehicle.
