The Murder of Irina Draghicescu Iankulov in Laval

A 20-year-old man is set to be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old real estate agent Irina Draghicescu Iankulov. The tragic incident occurred in the wooded area of Armand-Frappier Woods in Laval’s Chomedey district on Wednesday night.

Authorities were alerted to the attack when a 911 call reported a seriously injured woman in the park around 7:35 p.m. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, Irina was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, a resident of Laval with no previous criminal record in Quebec, was apprehended by police shortly after the incident. Witnesses are being interviewed, and a command post has been established at the crime scene to gather more information.

In a separate incident on the same night, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot on a basketball court in Lachine. This marks the 17th homicide in Montreal police territory this year.
