Tragic Shooting Incident in Linn County, Oregon
A man tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Lebanon, Linn County, Oregon. The victim, identified as 49-year-old Gino Anthony Marcoccia, was shot and killed by a Linn County deputy after refusing to drop his rifle and advancing towards officers, as reported by Oregon State Police.
The incident took place at a home on Speasl Road near Lebanon at approximately 8:15 p.m. The deputies were responding to a reported domestic dispute involving a gun, during which the suspect allegedly fired the weapon.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered Marcoccia outside the house, armed with a rifle. Despite repeated commands to drop his weapon, Marcoccia continued to advance towards one of the deputies, prompting the officer to fire shots at him.
Law Enforcement Response
Following the shooting, Marcoccia collapsed and dropped the rifle. Despite receiving immediate medical aid, he was declared dead at the scene. Fortunately, no law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the incident.
