Colorado Springs, a picturesque city located in the state of Colorado, was the site of a tragic accident on I-25 last weekend that resulted in the loss of three lives. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the two drivers and a pedestrian who were involved in the fatal crash.

The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 26, when CSPD received a report of a car traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25. The report indicated that a head-on collision had taken place between a Kia Sportage, traveling in the wrong direction, and a Volkswagen that was traveling in the correct direction.
Tragically, immediately after the crash, a Good Samaritan, Joel Montalvo, stopped to help and was struck by another vehicle as he attempted to cross I-25. Joel Montalvo, a 64-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene.

Both drivers involved in the crash were also tragically pronounced dead. The driver of the wrong-way Kia Sportage was identified as 37-year-old Darlisse River-Albino, while the driver of the Volkswagen was identified as 46-year-old Heidi Jackson.
The El Paso County Coroner is working on the case, and investigations are ongoing. CSPD has stated that drugs and/or alcohol are being considered as factors in the crash.
