Sherburn, MN (KROC-AM News)- Tragedy struck on Wednesday evening in southern Minnesota as a fatal crash claimed the life of a driver on Interstate 90, about 30 miles west of Worthington in rural Martin County.
The incident involved a single vehicle, an SUV, that was traveling east on the interstate when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer into the median before ultimately rolling multiple times in the ditch on the south side of the freeway. The State Patrol responded to the scene shortly before 9 p.m.
The driver, identified as 53-year-old William Derrell Coney of Rapid City, SD, was pronounced dead at the scene. The state crash report revealed that Coney was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor. Additionally, the road conditions on I-90 were described as dry.
