A 60-year-old man was shot dead over a land dispute in Hurari village, Nalanda district. The victim, Ramji Bind, received three bullet injuries to his back while heading towards an agricultural field. The police have named a suspect and are investigating the involvement of other villagers. The victim’s son stated that the dispute arose when Anil Mahto threatened the family for farming on leased land. The incident has sparked a murder investigation, with raids being conducted to apprehend the suspects. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem. Patna: A 60-year-old man was shot dead over an alleged land dispute in Hurari village, Chiksaura, Nalanda district on Wednesday night. The police have booked one named person and a few unknown persons in the matter.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Ramji Bind, was heading towards the agricultural field when the incident occurred. He received three bullet injuries to his back.
Hilsa deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sumit Kumar stated, “The Chiksaura police received information that a person had been shot dead in Hurari village. Initial investigations suggest that the murder was due to a land dispute. The involvement of some villagers has come to light, and a case has been registered against them. Raids are being carried out to arrest them.”

The victim’s son, Bachchan Bind, stated in his complaint that their family takes land from others on lease for farming. “Raju, a villager, leased his two bighas of land to Ramji for farming. Previously, Anil Mahto from the village used to farm on that land. Instead of holding a grudge against Raju, Anil Mahto started a dispute with Ramji and his family. Earlier, he had threatened them to face dire consequences,” he stated in his complaint.
“When my father was heading to the field to water the crops on Wednesday night, a biker shot him three times in the back. Upon hearing the gunshots, we ran towards the field and saw my father lying on the ground covered in blood. He died on the spot. Earlier, we were farming on three bighas of land. This year, we had taken an additional two bighas on lease for farming,” Bachchan added.
The body was handed over to the family members after a post-mortem at the Biharsharif Sadar Hospital.
This incident has shocked the residents of Hurari village and has raised concerns about the safety and security of individuals involved in land disputes. The police are working diligently to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
