Man Killed in Lynch Mob Attack in Satkania, Chattogram

A suspected thief met a tragic end in a lynch mob attack at Sarowar Bazar in Satkania upazila of Chattogram district on Wednesday night. The deceased, identified as Md Mohiuddin, 32, was a resident of Sadaha Union in the upazila.

The incident took place at the under-constructed Shah Parwal Madrasha under Amilaish union, where local people had stored sacks of paddy. Just last week, 20 sacks of paddy were stolen from the same spot, prompting the locals to guard the remaining stock.

On Wednesday night, three individuals arrived at the location in a pick-up truck and attempted to steal five sacks of paddy. Alerted by the commotion, the vigilant locals sprang into action and managed to apprehend one of the thieves, while the others managed to escape.

The captured thief faced the wrath of the angry mob, resulting in his untimely demise at the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived, recovered the body, and sent it to the local hospital morgue for autopsy, as confirmed by Priton Sarkar, the officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station.
