A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, May 30, at the intersection of Excelsior Road and Highway 371 in Baxter, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man. The victim, Kendahl Duane Sweet of Baxter, was driving a Land Rover that collided with a Buick driven by Laura Lee Marinucci, 55, of Brainerd.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at 5:19 p.m. According to the crash report, both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Excelsior Road when the Land Rover made contact with the Buick. The impact caused the Buick to be pushed into the intersection of Excelsior Road and Highway 371. As a result, the Buick spun out in the intersection, while the Land Rover veered off the road and struck Bill’s Gun Shop & Range.
