A man who authorities say drove the wrong way on State Route 87 near Fountain Hills and crashed into another vehicle, killing three people, has been arrested.

The tragic incident took place just after 4 a.m. on May 26 at milepost 187 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The serene town of Fountain Hills, known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges and its iconic fountain, was shaken by this devastating accident.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a tan 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with a white 2001 Ford F-150, resulting in a catastrophic outcome.

The driver of the F-150 sustained life-threatening injuries, while tragically, three other individuals who were passengers in the truck lost their lives in the crash.

The driver of the Avalanche was identified as Jose Serrano-Orduno, a 41-year-old man whose reckless actions led to this devastating incident.

Court documents revealed that Serrano-Orduno had a blood-alcohol level of .249 at the time of the crash, well above the legal limit.

Serrano-Orduno has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and endangerment in connection with the tragic event that unfolded in the peaceful town of Fountain Hills.
