Attempted Murder Trial in Southampton Crown Court

Anthony Yewman, a 45-year-old man from Romford, Essex, is currently standing trial at Southampton Crown Court for the attempted murder of Jenny Dalton. The incident took place in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, where Yewman allegedly attempted to strangle Ms Dalton in her own bedroom.

Obsession Turns Deadly

According to the prosecution, Yewman and Ms Dalton had a tumultuous on-off relationship for about two years. The defendant’s behaviour became increasingly obsessive, with him referring to himself as The Joker from Batman and calling Ms Dalton his Harley Quinn.

Yewman’s obsession with Ms Dalton escalated to the point where he stalked her after their relationship ended. He even went as far as camping out in her garden for several days, displaying controlling behavior and refusing to let her out of his sight.

Desperate Attempts to Escape

Ms Dalton tried to escape Yewman’s clutches by moving into a women’s refuge in Seaford, East Sussex, but he managed to track her down and convince her to return with him to Fordingbridge. Despite making it clear that they were no longer together, Yewman couldn’t accept the rejection.

On August 30, after Ms Dalton reiterated that their relationship was over, Yewman allegedly attempted to strangle her in her bedroom. She passed out during the attack but regained consciousness to find him trying to harm himself with a craft knife.

A Mother’s Brave Rescue

Ms Dalton’s daughter, Juliette, intervened by banging on the door, causing Yewman to release his grip on her throat. She then called the police, and her mother was rushed to the hospital with internal swelling in her neck. The traumatic incident left Ms Dalton severely traumatized.

Denial and Defiance

During police interviews, Yewman claimed that he had acted in self-defense and only retaliated after Ms Dalton grabbed him. He professed his love for her, insisting that he never meant to hurt her. Despite the evidence presented, Yewman maintains his innocence and denies the charges brought against him.

The trial at Southampton Crown Court continues as the prosecution seeks justice for Jenny Dalton and holds Anthony Yewman accountable for his alleged actions.
