The Tragic Incident in Pomona
Police in Pomona are currently investigating a devastating crash that took the life of a 6-year-old girl and left her 19-year-old sister seriously injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of Towne and Lexington avenues, a bustling area in the heart of the city.
The Victims
The young girl, identified as Guadalupe Alvarez Salgado, tragically lost her life in the accident. Her older sister, Mireya Alvarez, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The sisters were walking with their mother, returning home from a store, when they were struck by a silver Honda Accord travelling north on Towne.
The Aftermath
Upon arriving at the scene, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced Guadalupe dead, while her sister was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities as they conducted their investigation.
Community Response
Following the tragic incident, the local community came together to hold a candlelight vigil at the crash site. A makeshift memorial of flowers and candles began to grow, serving as a poignant reminder of the lives lost and the impact of the accident on the community.
