The investigation began on April 22 when Trotwood police responded to a report of human legs discovered at the edge of a driveway in the 7500 block of Old Dayton Road.

Identification of the Remains

Using a serial number from a knee replacement surgery, investigators were able to identify the remains as belonging to Keiter Sr., Kettering police Chief Christopher “Chip” Protsman confirmed.

Discovery at Keiter Sr.’s Apartment

A few days later, Trotwood police visited Keiter Sr.’s apartment in the 4500 block of Croftshire Drive. They found that appliances and carpet were missing from the unit, and bleach had been poured on the floor.

Legal Charges Against Keiter Jr.

Keiter Jr. was charged with tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse in Kettering Municipal Court on May 3 in connection to his father’s remains. Theft charges were also filed for items taken from his father’s apartment. The rest of Keiter Sr.’s remains were located in a storage unit on Guenther Road on the Trotwood-Dayton border.
