Arrest Made in Connection to East Side Shooting and Carjacking

An Indianapolis man has been arrested in connection to a shooting and carjacking that occurred on the east side of Indianapolis. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Bryant Hoskins, was also linked to a separate carjacking that took place earlier this month.

Incident Details

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the 8100 block of E. 36th Street after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a woman had been shot during a robbery. The victim informed police that her vehicle and a firearm were stolen by the suspect, later identified as Hoskins. She also revealed that she was shot when she attempted to defend herself.

Shortly after the incident, the stolen vehicle was located. Detectives investigating the case found similarities between this carjacking and a previous one that occurred on May 24 in the 7900 block of E. 38th St. This connection led them to Hoskins, who was subsequently apprehended at an apartment without any resistance.

Search and Seizure

Following the arrest, IMPD detectives conducted a search of both Hoskins’ residence and the victim’s vehicle. During the search, they recovered the woman’s stolen firearm and property linked to the carjacking that took place on May 24. Additionally, a second firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device was found in the possession of the suspect.
