Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real estate developer, allegedly made 14 calls to Dr Ajay Taware, head of the Forensic Medicine department at Sassoon General Hospital, in an attempt to manipulate his son’s forensic report after a fatal Porsche crash in Pune. Agarwal is accused of paying a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to alter the report and show that his son was not under the influence of alcohol during the accident. The police suspect that the blood samples were changed as a result of these calls. Both Taware and another hospital staffer were arrested in connection with the case. A committee has been formed to investigate the misconduct by the doctors involved.

The city of Pune, located in the western state of Maharashtra, witnessed a tragic incident on May 19 when a 17-year-old boy driving a Porsche Taycan was involved in a fatal accident in Kalyani Nagar. The incident took the lives of two young software professionals, sending shockwaves through the community.
Allegations of Bribery and Manipulation
In a shocking turn of events, Vishal Agarwal, the father of the accused teenager, allegedly made 14 calls to Dr Ajay Taware, head of the Forensic Medicine department at Sassoon General Hospital, within a span of three hours. It is claimed that Agarwal paid a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to manipulate his son’s forensic report and show that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Manipulation of Evidence
The calls between Agarwal and Taware, conducted through WhatsApp, Facetime, and normal calls, coincided with the collection and processing of the teenager’s blood samples. The forensic report from Sassoon Hospital initially indicated that the accused had not consumed alcohol on the day of the crash, raising suspicions among investigating authorities.
Arrests and Investigations
Subsequent investigations by the Pune Crime Branch led to the arrest of Dr Taware and Dr Shrihari Halnore, the chief medical officer of Sassoon Hospital, along with another hospital staffer named Atul Ghatkamble. It was discovered that the accused’s blood sample had been switched with another person’s sample, prompting further scrutiny into the case.

Revelations and Consequences
As the probe deepened, Dr Taware hinted at revealing more names involved in the case, indicating a broader network of corruption. A three-member committee was formed to investigate the misconduct of the doctors, including allegations of Taware requesting alcohol to be brought to the hospital.
Continued Investigation
The Maharashtra government’s Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) launched an inquiry into the incident, with the committee travelling from Pune to Mumbai to gather more information. The findings of the investigation are expected to shed light on the extent of corruption and manipulation in the Pune Porsche crash case.
