A young student tragically lost her life while walking home after celebrating her academic achievements in the Hudson Valley.
The incident took place in Red Hook, where a recent Bard College graduate, identified as 25-year-old Linh Hong Nguyen, was fatally struck by a car. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the car-pedestrian crash on North Broadway (Route 9) near Cherry Street in the Village of Red Hook on Saturday around 10:20 p.m.
According to reports, a 2017 Ford Fusion traveling southbound on Broadway veered off the roadway and hit Nguyen as she was walking on the sidewalk. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nguyen had just received her master’s degree from Bard College before the tragic accident occurred. Her piano teacher, Terrence Wilson, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, expressing his deep sorrow over the loss of a talented and kind soul. Nguyen, originally from Vietnam, had come to the Hudson Valley for graduate school and had recently performed her Degree Recital at Bard College.
