An Indianapolis man, Joseph Dauda, was arrested on armed robbery charges after being involved in a carjacking that led to a police action shooting. The carjacking occurred at a gas station on North Post Road, where a woman was held at gunpoint and her car was taken. Carjacking Leads to Arrest of Indianapolis Man

An Indianapolis man, Joseph Dauda, has been arrested in connection with a carjacking incident that occurred on the northeast side of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that Dauda was taken into custody on armed robbery charges following the carjacking at a gas station on North Post Road.

The carjacking took place when a woman was held at gunpoint by multiple individuals who stole her car. Thanks to the woman’s description, IMPD officers were able to locate both the woman’s car and a suspect vehicle at the Cavalier Court apartment complex.

During the investigation, an IMPD officer spotted one of the suspects, later identified as Jerrett Gray, Jr., at the complex. A confrontation between the officer and Gray led to an officer-involved shooting, with a gray sedan suspected of being involved in the carjacking fleeing the scene.

After the shooting, detectives from the Indiana Crimes Guns Task Force and the violent crimes unit began searching for the suspects using local traffic cameras and other investigative techniques. They eventually located the suspect vehicle on the east side of Indianapolis.

Detectives observed several individuals believed to be involved in the carjacking getting into two vehicles. A traffic stop in the 7500 block of E. 10th Street led to the detention of Joseph Dauda without incident. Dauda was then interviewed by homicide detectives and subsequently arrested on armed robbery charges.

A second traffic stop in the 1700 block of North Shadeland Avenue resulted in three more individuals being detained. During the stop, a rifle was found in the vehicle, along with a handgun magazine and around 15 grams of marijuana. The driver, Damoni Armstrong, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license and was in possession of a machine gun conversion device.

Overall, the swift actions of the IMPD officers and detectives led to the apprehension of multiple suspects involved in the carjacking incident. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview those detained in connection with the crime.
