A Bangkok market was thrown into chaos yesterday after the discovery of a man’s body in a parking lot. The police are investigating suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, including wounds that do not match the position of the body when found.

At 8am yesterday, police officer Thananchai Kanthahatthi from Rat Burana Police Station received a report of a dead man in the parking lot of a market located within Soi Pracha Uthit 33, Intersection 7. Upon receiving the report, Thananchai promptly informed his superiors and coordinated with forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to investigate the scene.

Upon arrival, the authorities discovered the body of a man later identified as Banchaa, a 42-year-old resident of Suwannaphum District, Roi Et Province. He was found lying on his side in the middle of the parking lot.

Banchaa was dressed in a grey short-sleeved T-shirt, long trousers, and green sandals. Notably, he had a wound on the left side of his face near his nose, appearing to be a 5-centimetre cut from a sharp object. There was also a 1-centimetre wound below his left eye and a 10-centimetre cut on his left elbow, both consistent with injuries from a sharp object. His face and body were bruised, and preliminary estimates suggest he had been dead for at least 12 hours, said Thananchai.

“The initial examination by the police and forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital has not yet determined the cause of death. Due to the nature of the wounds not aligning with the position in which the body was found, there is suspicion surrounding the cause of death.”

The body was transported to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic department for a detailed autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.

**Shocking Discovery**

The unsettling discovery has left market vendors and locals in shock, creating an atmosphere of fear and speculation. Many expressed their concerns and demanded a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind Banchaa’s mysterious death, Thananchai said.

“It’s terrifying to think something like this could happen here. We hope the police find out what happened.”

The police are now examining CCTV footage from the area and interviewing potential witnesses to piece together Banchaa’s final moments. There is a particular focus on identifying any suspicious activity or individuals who may have been involved in the events leading up to his death.

This incident marks the second such case in the area this year, raising concerns about safety among locals and market-goers, reported KhaoSod.

The Thai authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation, Thananchai added.

“We are committed to solving this case and ensuring the safety of the community. We encourage anyone with relevant information to contact the Rat Burana Police Station.”
