On May 4, chaos erupted at Dunbar High School when two individuals, later identified as Azhari Graves and Saki Frost, allegedly engaged in a violent altercation that left a juvenile with a head injury.
Video surveillance footage from various angles on Kirby and Morgan Streets, NW captured the harrowing scene as Graves and Frost aimed firearms at a Chevy Cruze, resulting in a juvenile sustaining a graze wound to the head.
The footage also showed a group of 15 juveniles in an alley, where Graves and Frost were seen brandishing firearms. The incident escalated quickly, with bullet casings found alongside bullet strikes to the driver door and ceiling of the car.
The Legal Proceedings: A Day in Court
On May 28, video evidence was presented before DC Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan in a hearing that shed light on the events that transpired at Dunbar High School.
Azhari Graves, 18, faces multiple charges, including assault with intent to kill while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Saki Frost, 17, is charged with similar offenses, as well as assault with a dangerous weapon.
During the court proceedings, the lead detective from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) detailed the sequence of events that led to the altercation at Dunbar High School. However, due to time constraints, the detective was unable to conclude his testimony, with the parties scheduled to reconvene on May 29.
