The Roanoke Rapids Police Department recently reported an incident that took place on Friday evening, adding to the list of events that keep our community safe and secure. Chief Shane Guyant shared the following details with the public:

**Discovery of Impaired Driver**

On a Friday evening around 7:30 p.m., Master Officer D. Norfleet was patrolling the area of Highway 158 and Smith Church Road when he noticed a vehicle obstructing the roadway. The driver, later identified as Reginald Levern Bradley, 50, seemed to have lost consciousness behind the wheel, with the engine still running.

Norfleet quickly intervened and roused Bradley from his daze. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the unmistakable scent of alcohol emanating from Bradley. Suspecting impairment, Norfleet proceeded to conduct a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Bradley was subsequently charged with DWI by a magistrate and was granted a $500 bond, with a scheduled court appearance set for June 14.

**Vehicle Break-Ins**

Later on Friday evening, around 10 p.m., the police department received multiple reports of vehicles being unlawfully entered and rummaged through in a parking lot situated near the intersection of Tenth Street and Becker Drive. Fortunately, no items were reported stolen, and no damages were incurred during the break-ins. It was noted that all the vehicles that were targeted had been left unlocked, presenting an easy opportunity for the culprit.

A surveillance camera managed to capture an image of a potential suspect involved in the break-ins.
