Police are investigating the death of a passenger on a matatu traveling on the Machakos-Koka route. Peter Kioko Wambua, 52, was found unresponsive when the conductor tried to wake him upon reaching his destination. Wambua had boarded the matatu in Machakos town heading to Kamuani on May 26. He had informed the conductor of his stop and paid his fare. When they arrived, the conductor realized Wambua was not waking up. Two sachets of medicine were found on him. In a separate incident, a suspect was arrested for possessing live ammunition in Marsabit, while a police officer was arrested for a shooting and robbery in Vihiga County.

Tragic Incident in Matatu on Machakos-Koka Route

Detectives are currently investigating a heartbreaking incident that occurred on a matatu traveling along the Machakos-Koka route. The incident involved the unfortunate death of a passenger, Peter Kioko Wambua, aged 52. The matatu conductor discovered Mr. Wambua unresponsive as he attempted to wake him up to inform him that they had reached his destination.

Details of the Incident

Mr. Wambua had boarded the matatu in Machakos town, with the intention of traveling to the Kamuani area, his rural home. He had informed the conductor of his intended destination and paid his fare. Additionally, he had asked the conductor to alert him upon reaching Kamuani.

Upon reaching the destination, the conductor announced that those alighting at Kamuani should do so. However, Mr. Wambua did not respond. Concerned, the conductor approached him and attempted to wake him up without success. With the help of another passenger, they realized that Mr. Wambua had passed away.

Family and Medical Details

The authorities contacted Mr. Wambua’s family, who rushed to the scene and positively identified him. It was revealed that he had contacted his mother that morning, requesting fare to return home as he was feeling unwell. The cause of his illness remains unknown, although two sachets of medicine were found in his shirt pocket.

The body, showing no visible physical injuries, was taken to the Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Wambua’s death is ongoing.

Other Police Incidents

In other police-related news, a suspect named Galgalo Abdub, aged 32, was arrested in possession of nine rounds of live ammunition in Karantina Village, Marsabit. He is currently under investigation for illegal possession of ammunition.

Additionally, a police officer attached to Nyawara Police Post in Siaya County was apprehended on suspicion of involvement in a shooting and robbery incident in Mbale, Vihiga County. The constable was arrested following an incident that was reported on April 14, 2024. Further investigations are underway to determine the officer’s involvement in other cases.
