Dover, MN (KROC-AM News)- A woman from Stewartville found herself in a troubling situation after crashing her vehicle in Olmsted County. The incident, which occurred in the 2400 block of County Rd. 10 Northeast, just over five miles north of Dover, left authorities puzzled.

According to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin, deputies responded to the crash scene shortly before 1:30 am on Friday morning. Upon arrival, they discovered an overturned vehicle resting on its roof against a power pole. However, the driver was nowhere to be found.

A power company was called to the scene to repair the damaged power lines, while deputies conducted an extensive search of the area in hopes of locating the missing driver. Despite their efforts, no one was found at the scene.

Around 3:00 am, dispatch received a call from a 911 caller who claimed to have been in an accident and had just woken up in a nearby cornfield. The call came from the same area as the crash, prompting deputies to return to the scene.

It was then that they found the woman, identified as 26-year-old Kelly Mehrkens from Stewartville. While speaking with Mehrkens, deputies suspected her of being under the influence of alcohol. As a result, Mehrkens was arrested on suspicion of DWI and transported to the Olmsted County Jail.
