Punta Gorda, Florida: Two Arrested on Charges of Sexual Misconduct and Neglect
In a distressing development, two individuals have been taken into custody following alarming allegations of sexual misconduct with children and neglect in Punta Gorda, Florida.
On a fateful day on April 14, 2024, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a concerning call from a woman regarding potential sexual abuse of her granddaughter’s friend. Promptly, deputies launched an investigation into the matter, involving the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) in the process.
The gravity of the situation led the Child Protective Investigator from DCF, accompanied by law enforcement, to the residence of the alleged victims. Unfortunately, their attempts to make contact were met with resistance as an adult female inside the home warned them off and threatened legal action. Subsequently, the case was escalated to the Major Case Unit (MCU) of the CCSO.

The following day, MCU detectives met with the young victims at their school to gather crucial information. Shockingly, both children revealed that they had been subjected to inappropriate touching by a man, later identified as Cody Douglas Meredith (06/06/1995). What was even more distressing was the fact that they had confided in Tiffany Janeth Miller (09/19/1990), but she failed to take any action to protect them or alert the authorities.
Legal Action and Arrest
On Tuesday, April 23rd, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit sought to execute a search warrant at Tiffany Miller’s residence. Despite numerous attempts to engage with Miller, she adamantly refused to cooperate, forcing deputies to consider forced entry. After a prolonged standoff, Miller eventually exited the premises but put up a physical struggle when deputies tried to detain her.

Following a thorough investigation, Cody Douglas Meredith was apprehended on charges of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation, while Tiffany Janeth Miller faced charges of Failure to Report Abuse and Child Neglect. Both individuals were taken to the Charlotte County Jail, with Miller posting bail and Meredith being held without bond at present.
