Air India has taken legal action against a passenger for putting the lives of over 200 passengers at risk by smoking a cigarette in the plane’s restroom at 30,000 feet. The accused, Arjun Thalore, was detained by airport security upon landing in Mumbai and subsequently arrested by Sahar police. This is the second incident of its kind this month, with a 34-year-old Rajasthan native also apprehended for smoking on a flight from Jaipur to Mumbai. Despite clear rules against smoking on planes, Arjun’s actions led to his arrest and charges under Indian Penal Code Section 336 and Aircraft Rules Section 25. Another recent incident involved a 51-year-old passenger caught smoking on a Vistara flight from Muscat to Mumbai.

Air India recently faced a troubling situation when a passenger endangered the lives of over 200 individuals by smoking a cigarette in the plane’s toilet. The incident took place while the flight was cruising at an altitude of around 30,000 feet, causing a wave of panic among both passengers and crew members.

The individual responsible for this reckless act has been identified as Arjun Thalore, a 34-year-old native of Rajasthan. The flight in question was en route from Jaipur to Mumbai when the crew discovered Arjun smoking in the aircraft’s restroom. Despite clear instructions prohibiting such behavior, Arjun chose to ignore the rules, prompting the crew to take immediate action.

Upon landing at Mumbai airport, airport security detained Arjun and handed him over to the local police. Arjun now faces charges under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code for endangering the lives or personal safety of others, as well as Section 25 of the Aircraft Rules.

Just a few days prior, on May 8, a 51-year-old passenger was caught smoking in the toilet of a Vistara flight from Muscat to Mumbai.
