Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Antonio Mancilla-Pertuz of Millsboro for his fifth DUI offense after a traffic stop on the evening of May 24, 2024. The incident occurred around 8:09 PM when a state trooper spotted a Volkswagen Jetta speeding eastbound on Millsboro Highway. Signs of impairment were evident as the trooper noted a strong alcohol smell on Mancilla-Pertuz’s breath and observed his impaired behaviour. Mancilla-Pertuz, with four previous DUI convictions, was arrested for driving under the influence. An open container of beer was also found in his vehicle. MILLSBORO, DE—Delaware State Police have apprehended 40-year-old Antonio Mancilla-Pertuz of Millsboro for his fifth DUI offense following a traffic stop on the evening of May 24, 2024.
Details of the Incident
The incident unfolded around 8:09 PM when a state trooper spotted a Volkswagen Jetta speeding eastbound on Millsboro Highway in the picturesque town of Millsboro, Delaware. The trooper promptly initiated a traffic stop and engaged with the driver, identified as Mancilla-Pertuz. The trooper quickly noticed signs of impairment, as a strong smell of alcohol emanated from Mancilla-Pertuz’s breath, and his behaviour exhibited clear signs of intoxication.
Arrest and Charges
Upon administering standardized field sobriety tests during the traffic stop, the results conclusively led to Mancilla-Pertuz’s arrest for driving under the influence. A subsequent computer check confirmed that Mancilla-Pertuz had amassed four previous DUI-related convictions and was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Additionally, an open container of beer was discovered inside his vehicle.
Following the arrest, Mancilla-Pertuz was swiftly transported to Troop 4, where he was formally charged and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3. He has since been remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institution, with a bond set at £6,301 in cash.
