The Delhi Fire Department director highlighted the lack of necessary permits at the care center, where the owner is currently absconding. Tragedy Strikes Delhi Hospital as Fire Claims Lives of Newborns

In a heartfelt message on social media, PM Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, stating, “The fire tragedy at a hospital in Delhi is heart-rending. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this incredibly difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

Investigation and Accountability

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken notice of the fire tragedy and initiated an investigation into the incident. The Chairperson, Priyank Kanoongo, announced that a team from the Commission would visit the hospital to gather official information and assess the situation.

Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Department, revealed that the baby care centre where the fire broke out likely did not have the necessary No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for operation. The owner of the facility, identified as Naveen Kichi, is currently on the run, and the Delhi police are preparing to file charges against him.

Rescue Efforts and Challenges

Garg recounted the harrowing rescue operation, stating, “When we received the call, the fire had already spread to nearby structures. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to save all the children. The presence of oxygen cylinders in the vicinity led to explosions, further complicating the situation.”

President Droupadi Murmu offered her condolences to the affected families, expressing her sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal pledged to take strict action against those responsible for the negligence that led to the tragedy.

In a statement, Kejriwal said, “This incident at the children’s hospital is truly heartbreaking. We stand in solidarity with the families who have lost their precious children. The government is actively providing medical assistance to the injured, while investigations are underway to hold the accountable parties responsible.”
