Details of the Accident
The collision occurred when the speeding Fuso truck, registration UBA 200J, veered out of control and crashed head-on into the Coaster minibus, registration UBL 851Z. The minibus, owned by the Dokolo School of Nursing and Midwifery, was ferrying Lango Province football players from Dokolo town to Lira City. On the other hand, the Fuso was carrying passengers who were returning from a traditional marriage ceremony in the opposite direction towards Dokolo.
Victims of the Tragedy
Among the casualties were two young children, Anuari Musafiri Suwedi, aged 5, and Suhaila Musafiri Suwed, aged 9, who were accompanying their father to watch a football match. The identity of the third victim is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, several passengers from both vehicles sustained severe injuries and were promptly rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for medical treatment.
Police Response and Investigation
Law enforcement officials, including the Division Police Commander of Lira-City East and the Division Traffic Officer of Lira-City Central Police Station, swiftly responded to the scene of the accident. The driver of the Fuso truck, believed to be responsible for the crash, surrendered himself to Kaberamaido Police Station for questioning. Meanwhile, the driver of the minibus is currently receiving medical care at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.

The minibus passengers, comprising the Lango Province football team, included Juliet Akello, Abel Ogwang, Ivan Opeto, Moses Samuel Okullo, and several others.
