Details of the Incident at Heart WeHo Nightclub
Located at 8911 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, Heart WeHo nightclub was the scene of a disturbing altercation on April 5. The security guard on duty, 22-year-old Khyren Ross, allegedly punched 53-year-old Albert Vasquez, causing serious injuries.
Charges Against the Security Guard
Following the incident, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Ross with one misdemeanor count of battery causing serious bodily injury and one misdemeanor count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Ross is set to appear for arraignment on May 29 in Dept. 73 of the Airport Courthouse.
Background of the Alleged Assault
According to reports, Ross was employed by WGS Group, a security company contracted by Heart WeHo. The altercation between Ross and Vasquez occurred at 10:40 p.m. when Vasquez attempted to enter the nightclub but was denied entry due to lack of proper identification. A verbal and physical altercation ensued, culminating in Ross punching Vasquez in the face.
Response to the Incident
Family, friends, and supporters of Albert Vasquez have been vocal in seeking justice for him. They pressured the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station to investigate the matter thoroughly and demanded that Heart WeHo release video footage of the incident. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to assist Vasquez with medical expenses, raising $69,530 so far.

Injuries Sustained by Albert Vasquez
Vasquez’s sister, Gloria Jimenez, revealed the extent of his injuries, which included two head fractures, bruises to his lungs, a black eye, and scrapes and bruises on his arms and legs. Vasquez spent a month in the hospital and is still on a long road to recovery.
