Senate Republicans Criticize Biden Judicial Nominee for Placing Transgender Rapist in Women’s Prison
During a recent Senate Judiciary hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn faced intense scrutiny from Senate Republicans for her controversial recommendation to transfer a transgender rapist to a women’s prison. The nominee, who is up for a position on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, came under fire for her decision to place convicted rapist William McClain, who now identifies as a transgender woman named July Justine Shelby, in a women’s facility. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) had opposed this move, citing safety concerns.
