Three more suspected heatstroke deaths were reported in Rajasthan, with Phalodi recording a scorching maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius. The state saw a total of 12 heat-related deaths in just two days, with no relief from the heat wave in sight. The scorching heatwave in Rajasthan has claimed three more lives, bringing the total death toll to 12 in just two consecutive days. The extreme temperatures have been persisting in the state for the past 11 days, with Phalodi recording the highest temperature at a staggering 49 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department.
One of the victims was a worker at the under-construction Pachpadra Refinery in Balotra, who succumbed to heatstroke and passed away at the government hospital. Another casualty was a 51-year-old hospital guard at SMS Hospital in Jaipur, while a train passenger was found dead at Pali railway station.
In response to the escalating heat-related fatalities, Balotra district collector Sushil Kumar has taken proactive measures by instructing the refinery officials to halt work between 12pm and 5pm to protect workers from the scorching heat.
Jaipur, the state capital, experienced a warmer morning with a minimum temperature of 32.1 degrees Celsius, which was significantly above the normal range. The afternoon temperatures soared to 42.8 degrees Celsius, further exacerbating the heatwave conditions in the city.

Apart from Phalodi, other regions in Rajasthan also recorded dangerously high temperatures, with Jaisalmer trailing closely behind at 48.3 degrees Celsius. Barmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Dungarpur, Sriganganagar, Chittorgarh, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Fatehpur, Churu, and Ajmer all reported temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius, posing a severe threat to the residents.
In response to the escalating heatwave crisis, Anand Kumar, the additional chief secretary of the disaster management department, has issued directives to all district collectors to make necessary arrangements for providing relief to both humans and animals affected by the heatwave. The authorities are gearing up to mitigate the impact of the scorching temperatures and prevent further casualties.
As the heatwave continues to grip Rajasthan in its fiery grip, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe and hydrated during the sweltering conditions. With the mercury showing no signs of relenting, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize their well-being during this challenging period.
