In Srinagar, on May 25, the police took strict action against drug peddlers in Baramulla, booking 3 notorious smugglers under the PIT NDPS Act. The detained individuals, Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, and Iddries Khan, were involved in supplying drugs to local youth in the area. Despite multiple FIRs against them, they continued their illegal activities. In Pulwama, another drug peddler, Muzamil Gul, was arrested with a heroin-like substance in his possession. The police seized the vehicle used in the crime as well. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to combat the drug menace in society.

Drug Traffickers Booked in Baramulla

In a significant development in the fight against drug peddling, the police in Baramulla have taken strict action against three notorious drug smugglers. The individuals, identified as Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, and Iddries Khan, were booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after formal detention orders were obtained from the competent authority. These drug smugglers, known for their involvement in promoting drug abuse in the region, have been detained and are currently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.

These individuals have a history of multiple cases registered against them for their illegal activities. Despite facing legal consequences in the past, they continued to supply drugs to the local youth of Baramulla, Kreeri, Noorkhah, Boniyar, and surrounding areas. The police have taken a strong stance against their actions to protect the community from the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Arrest of a Drug Peddler in Pulwama

Meanwhile, in Pulwama, the police have made another arrest in connection with drug trafficking. A drug peddler, identified as Muzamil Gul from Samboora, Pulwama, was apprehended by a police party from Police Station Pulwama. The arrest took place at a checkpoint established at Gangoo Crossing, where a vehicle used by the accused was intercepted.

During a search of the vehicle, the police recovered 7.58 grams of a heroin-like substance from Muzamil Gul’s possession. He was immediately taken into custody and transferred to the police station for further investigation. Additionally, the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized by the authorities to prevent further illegal activities.

A case has been registered against Muzamil Gul under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Pulwama, and the investigation is currently underway to gather more information about the case.
