A Norristown man, Jean Carlos Esmeraldas Cruz, turned himself in to authorities after a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 57-year-old Brian Clark. The incident occurred on Main and Astor streets in Norristown, with Clark being found unresponsive in the center median and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Cruz, who did not have a driver’s license, was charged with multiple offenses including Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. He is currently out on $100,000 bail and must surrender his passport. Cruz is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in early June.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. – A tragic incident unfolded in Norristown, Pennsylvania, as a local man turned himself in to authorities following a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Jean Carlos Esmeraldas Cruz, 26, surrendered to police on Saturday morning after an arrest warrant was issued for him on Thursday.

The shocking incident occurred on a quiet Sunday night, just before 11 p.m., at the intersection of Main and Astor streets in Norristown. Responding officers discovered an unresponsive man in the center median, later identified as 57-year-old Brian Clark, who tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
The driver responsible for the hit-and-run fled the scene after striking Clark. Authorities located the vehicle on May 20th, with visible damage to the left front end and windshield concealed by a sheet. Hair believed to be from the victim was found on the windshield, further implicating the driver.
The Hyundai Santa Fe involved in the incident was registered to Jean Landscaping, LLC. During the investigation, it was revealed that Cruz did not possess a valid driver’s license.
Cruz now faces charges of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury, Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury While Not Properly Licensed, and Failure to Stop and Render Aid, among other related offenses. Following his arraignment, bail was set at $100,000 cash, with the condition of surrendering his passport before release. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for early June.
