Pune Police Arrests Grandfather of Minor Accused in Fatal Car Accident
In a recent development, the Pune Police Crime Branch unit has taken a significant step in the investigation of a tragic incident that occurred earlier this week. The grandfather of the minor accused of causing the death of two motorcycle-borne individuals in Pune City has been arrested.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place in Pune’s Kayani Nagar, where a 17-year-old teenager, reportedly driving a luxury car while intoxicated, collided with two IT professionals riding a motorcycle. The victims, identified as Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, tragically lost their lives in the accident.
Arrest of Grandfather
The Pune City Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, confirmed the arrest of the accused teenager’s grandfather. A separate FIR has been filed against him under IPC sections 365 and 368. Additionally, the teenager’s father, Vishal Agarwal, has also been booked in the same FIR under multiple sections of the IPC on the complaint of the family driver, Gangadhar.
Allegations Against the Grandfather
According to the driver, Gangadhar, he was forcibly taken to the grandfather’s home against his will on the night of May 19. Allegations suggest that both the grandfather and his son, Vishal Agarwal, tried to coerce Gangadhar into taking responsibility for the crime instead of the minor grandson.

Legal Proceedings
The accused teenager has been detained at an observation home as per the Juvenile Justice Board’s order. While he was initially granted bail, he was later sent to the observation home for a period of 14 days.
