The Pallavaram police have apprehended two college students for their involvement in a spate of chain-snatching incidents while riding a motorcycle without a number plate. The duo targeted a woman named Amsavalli near Pallavaram bus stand a few months ago, snatching her chain before making a quick getaway. Through CCTV footage analysis, the police identified the suspects’ unique shoe pattern and tracked them down in Purasawalkam after reviewing 240 CCTV recordings. The arrested suspects, Sathish Kumar, 19, from Purasawalkam, and Mohammed Ali, 19, from Washermenpet, are college students who melted the stolen jewellery for sale, living a lavish lifestyle with the profits.
