A 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life during a robbery attempt in Jharkhand’s Latehar district, while his 15-year-old accomplice suffered severe burns in the process. The incident took place at a fertiliser and seed shop in Pakri village, just 5km from Balumath police station. The young boy who lost his life was identified as Amit Turi, while the injured accomplice goes by the name of Badal Bhuiyan. The third member of the group, Sagar Turi, managed to escape unharmed.
The shocking incident occurred on a Friday night when the shop caught fire, allegedly from a candle that the thieves had used to see in the dark. The police were alerted and arrived at the scene, calling for a firefighting vehicle to control the blaze. Unfortunately, the shop was completely gutted by the fire. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the break-in.
Badal, who suffered 70% burns in the fire, was initially taken to the community health centre in Balumath before being transferred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi for further treatment. Meanwhile, Sagar, the third accomplice, has been on the run since the tragic incident.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan provided details of the incident, stating that it is believed one of the thieves may have inadvertently caused the fire by lighting a candle inside the shop. The police are working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind the events that led to the devastating outcome.
The local community in Pakri village has been left in shock by the tragic loss of the young boy’s life and the injuries sustained by his accomplice.
