Police rescued a 22-year-old woman, abducted from the city by her distant relative along with three others to force her into marriage. On the fateful day, the victim was ambushed by her cousin and his associates while on her way to work. They quickly pushed her into a car, gagged her, and began their journey towards their hometown of Karaikudi to carry out the forced marriage. Fortunately, passersby witnessed the incident and alerted the authorities.

The Rescue

Thanks to the quick thinking of the victim’s friends who informed the Velachery police, the Acharapakkam police were able to intercept the vehicle at the Thozhipedu toll plaza in Chengalpattu district. The four men were promptly arrested, and the woman was safely rescued from their clutches.

The Arrest

The individuals involved in the abduction and forced marriage attempt have been identified as S. Sabapathy, 27, from Thondi, Ramanathapuram district, and his associates – P. Hariharan, 20, Ajay alias Sabarinathan, 25, and V. Rajesh, 39. The case has now been handed over to the Velachery police for further investigation.
