History of Violence at The Quest Club

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that violence has erupted at The Quest Club. In November 2021, an off-duty Birmingham police officer working security at the club was shot in the foot. Just a few months later, in September 2022, 45-year-old Michael David Lyle of Blount County was fatally shot at the same venue. Another man was also injured in that incident and had to be hospitalized.

Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith emphasized the importance of community safety in light of these incidents, stating, “We are not in this to destroy anyone’s livelihood by affecting their business, however, we are in this to bring as much light as we can when you have incidents taking place at one establishment that are affecting our community’s safety.”
