In another tragic incident, a collision between a lorry and van in Chikkamagaluru district led to the deaths of four family members from Chitradurga district. Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives in Karnataka

Two separate road accidents in Karnataka have left eight people dead and 18 others injured, causing shock and grief among the local communities. The incidents occurred in Ranebennur of Haveri district and Banakal in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, highlighting the dangers of travelling on the state’s highways.

Accident in Ranebennur

On Thursday night, a multiutility vehicle carrying passengers from Haveri to Tirupati met with a tragic accident under an under-bridge on NH-48 in Ranebennur. The vehicle overturned, resulting in the death of four passengers, identified as Suresh Jaadi (45), Ishwarya Barki (22), Pavithra Samagondi (28), and Chethana Samagondi (7). Six other passengers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospitals for treatment.

Superintendent of Police Anshukumar visited the accident site to oversee the rescue operations and provide support to the victims and their families.

Collision in Banakal

In a separate incident in Banakal, a collision between a lorry and a van claimed the lives of four members of a family from Channapatna in Holalkere taluk of Chitradurga district. The deceased were identified as Hampaiah (65), Prema (58), Manjaiah (60), and Prabhakar (45). The family members were returning from a visit to Dharmasthala when the tragic accident occurred on the national highway.

The collision resulted in three passengers in the van losing their lives on the spot, while another passenger succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. Additionally, three passengers in a car following the van sustained serious injuries and were transferred to a hospital in Mangaluru for further medical care.

These devastating accidents serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety measures and responsible driving practices. Authorities are urging all motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies on the state’s roads.
