Our hearts are heavy as we report on a devastating incident that took place on National Highway 66 near Naibag junction. A collision between a truck and a scooter has left two individuals severely injured, with one life tragically lost. The location of this heartbreaking incident is near the bustling Naibag Junction, a busy intersection where vehicles and pedestrians alike navigate their way through the day.
The harrowing incident unfolded as a Tata Truck, bearing the registration number GA-01-U-2543, was being driven by Pandita Ramchandra Naik, a 47-year-old resident of Laximanwadi, Kudal, Maharashtra. The truck was making its way from the internal road of Naibag towards the Patradevi side, an area known for its scenic landscapes and bustling traffic.

At the junction, the truck collided with a Honda Dio Scooter with registration number GA 04 K 6819. The scooter was being ridden by Rajaram Naik, 58, with Sunita Naik, 50, as the pillion rider. Both individuals were on their way from Malpem towards Patradevi, enjoying the journey on their two-wheeler.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing both riders to be thrown from the scooter, resulting in serious injuries. The scene was chaotic as emergency services rushed to the location to provide urgent medical attention. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Mrs. Sunita Naik tragically succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a void in the hearts of her loved ones.
Following the incident, the Pernem Police Station swiftly responded by registering the case under MV Accident No. 32/2024. Detailed investigations were carried out, including the completion of a MV accident panchanama, and the creation of a sketch depicting the scene of the accident with the assistance of two respected panchas from the local community.
