In another incident, three Indian-origin students were killed in a car crash in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Alpharetta Police stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the tragic accident. Such incidents highlight the importance of road safety among teenagers.

New York: An Indian student from Andhra Pradesh tragically lost his life in New York after a fatal bike accident, as reported by the Consulate General of India in the city. The student, identified as Shri Belem Atchyuth, was a student at The State University of New York (SUNY) and passed away following the accident on Wednesday.
The Consulate General of India in New York shared the news of Atchyuth’s demise on social media and extended their condolences. They assured that they were in contact with the student’s family and providing all necessary assistance to repatriate his remains back to India.
“Saddened to learn about the untimely demise of Shri Belem Atchyuth, a student at SUNY who met with a bike accident and passed away yesterday evening; our deepest condolences to the family;@IndiainNewYork is in touch with the bereaved family & local agencies to extend all assistance including sending the mortal remains back to India,” stated the Indian Consulate General in New York.
Tragic Car Crash Claims Three Indian-Origin Lives
In a separate incident, three Indian-origin students lost their lives while two others sustained injuries in a devastating car crash in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Alpharetta Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Westside Parkway on May 14, where five 18-year-old occupants were involved in the accident.
According to the Alpharetta Police statement, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it overturning in the tree line. The deceased Indian-origin individuals were identified as Aryan Joshi, a senior at Alpharetta High School, Sriya Avasarala, and Anvi Sharma, both freshmen at the University of Georgia.
Anvi Sharma and Sriya Avasarala had just completed their freshman year at the University of Georgia, while Aryan Joshi was on the brink of graduating. Avasarala was a member of the UGA Shikaari dance team, and Sharma was part of the UGA Kalakaar, an a capella group, as per reports.
Earlier last month, three Indian women from Gujarat met with a tragic end in a car accident in South Carolina’s Greenville County. The speeding SUV they were travelling in veered across lanes, crashed into trees, resulting in the loss of three lives and one injured individual.
Statistics show that in 2021, teenagers accounted for a significant percentage of motor vehicle crash deaths, with motor vehicle crashes being the leading cause of death for females between the ages of 13 and 19. The dangers of speeding and reckless driving continue to pose a threat to road safety.
