London, UK- U.S. District Judge John D. Russell has handed down a 45-year prison sentence to Alex Ray Scott, 28, for the second-degree murder of Robin Skocdopole in Indian Country, Oklahoma. Scott will also serve five years of supervised release.
The Incident
The tragic incident unfolded in January 2020 when Scott voluntarily walked into a police precinct in New York City and confessed to an unrelated killing. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered identification and credit cards belonging to Skocdopole in Scott’s possession. Scott later admitted to living with Skocdopole in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, before her disappearance.
The Discovery
In February 2020, Broken Arrow Police conducted a search of Skocdopole’s residence, which yielded no trace of her. Forensic analysis revealed multiple areas of blood spatter and a large blood pool matching Skocdopole’s DNA. Tragically, in May 2020, Skocdopole’s dismembered remains were found near a creek in Broken Arrow. The Medical Examiner’s report indicated that two different saws were used in the gruesome act, one of which resembled a chainsaw.
The Investigation
Further investigation revealed that Scott had been wearing an ankle monitor since July 2019, awaiting trial on an unrelated case in Tulsa County. Skocdopole was last seen alive in August 2019 while Scott was renting a room from her. He had falsely informed others that Skocdopole had relocated to Dallas for work. Scott even went as far as sending vague emails from Skocdopole’s account to friends. Ankle monitor data and financial records confirmed Scott’s movements to dispose of the body and the purchase and return of a chainsaw from a local retailer.

The Confession
In May 2023, Scott confessed to the FBI about the murder and dismemberment of Skocdopole. He led agents to the alleged location where he claimed to have disposed of Skocdopole’s head, but no additional remains were found.
Legal Proceedings
Scott, a member of the Cherokee Nation, will remain in custody while facing a separate case in New York, where he has pleaded not guilty. Once the New York case concludes, he will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
