Ingman described Cummings as a talented football player who could be positive in any situation, never buckling under pressure or pointing the blame at someone else. Sadly, Cummings was the victim of a shooting at North Jetty Park in Nokomis on May 19. The community has come together to support his family during this difficult time.

On May 19, tragedy struck when Cummings became the victim of a shooting at North Jetty Park in Nokomis. Sarasota investigators believe the incident stemmed from an argument that escalated into violence at the park. The community was left reeling from the loss of a beloved young man who always brought a smile to those around him.

In a devastating turn of events, Franklin Roosevelt Raybon Jr., 22, of Port Charlotte, was arrested in connection to the shooting. According to a probable cause affidavit, the altercation between Cummings and Raybon at a party led to the fatal shooting. Raybon allegedly opened fire on the group after a dispute, resulting in Cummings being fatally wounded. The senseless act of violence has left the community in mourning and searching for answers.

The tragic incident at North Jetty Park is part of a concerning trend of gun violence in Sarasota County. With 11 shootings already this year, the community is grappling with the impact of such senseless acts.
