Mr Ji was caught off guard by a loud bang as he worked underneath the white lorry. He suddenly found himself near the rear wheel of the vehicle, sustaining injuries to his left knee, scalp, and hands.

The driver of the white lorry, who was standing nearby, was also hit by the green lorry during the collision.

Two individuals, including Mr Ji and the lorry driver, were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. The lorry driver required surgery for his fractured ribs, highlighting the severity of the impact.

SCDF and police respond swiftly to the scene

Upon receiving reports of the crash, two civil defence vehicles, two ambulances, and traffic police arrived at the scene within minutes. The injured parties were promptly transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for urgent care.

Meanwhile, the driver of the green lorry, though uninjured, found himself trapped in his vehicle following the collision. Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel came to his aid, helping him exit the vehicle safely.

The logistics company to which the green lorry belonged noted the lack of safety measures such as fences or breakdown triangles to indicate ongoing repair work on the roadside.

“New Study Shows Benefits of Meditation for Mental Health”

A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology has shed new light on the benefits of meditation for mental health. The study, conducted by a team of researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, found that regular meditation practice can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve overall well-being, and enhance cognitive function.

The study, which involved over 500 participants with varying levels of meditation experience, measured the effects of different meditation techniques on mental health outcomes. The results showed that participants who practiced meditation regularly experienced a significant reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression compared to those who did not meditate.

One of the most striking findings of the study was the impact of meditation on cognitive function. Participants who meditated regularly showed improvements in memory, attention, and decision-making skills. This suggests that meditation not only has benefits for mental health, but also for overall cognitive function and performance.

Dr. Sarah Johnson, lead researcher on the study, explained the potential mechanisms behind these benefits. “Meditation has been shown to reduce activity in the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for processing emotions such as fear and anxiety. By calming this part of the brain, meditation can help individuals manage their emotions more effectively and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.”

The study also found that the benefits of meditation were dose-dependent, meaning that the more frequently individuals practiced meditation, the greater the improvements in mental health outcomes. Participants who meditated for at least 20 minutes a day saw the most significant reductions in anxiety and depression symptoms.

These findings have important implications for the treatment of mental health disorders. Traditional treatments such as medication and therapy have been the primary methods used to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression. However, these treatments are not always effective for everyone and can come with side effects.

Meditation offers a natural and accessible alternative for individuals looking to improve their mental health. The practice is cost-effective, can be done anywhere, and has no known side effects. With the growing popularity of meditation apps and online resources, it is easier than ever for individuals to incorporate meditation into their daily routine.

Dr. Johnson emphasized the importance of incorporating meditation into mental health treatment plans. “While meditation is not a replacement for traditional treatments, it can be a valuable tool in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. By incorporating meditation into their daily routine, individuals can improve their mental health and overall well-being.”

As more research is conducted on the benefits of meditation, it is becoming increasingly clear that this ancient practice has a profound impact on mental health. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or simply looking to improve your overall well-being, incorporating meditation into your daily routine may be a simple yet powerful way to enhance your mental health.
