Liloan Tragedy: Motorcycle Collision Claims Two Lives
In a tragic turn of events, a motorcycle rider and his female backrider lost their lives after a fatal collision with a mover truck in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan town, northern Cebu in the early hours of Friday, May 24.
The motorcycle rider, identified as 35-year-old Mikco Manjac from Opao, Mandaue City, was accompanied by his backrider, Rapunzel Gadje, 26, from Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.
Details of the Incident
The devastating incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when the two individuals were traveling northbound along the national road. On the other hand, the mover truck driven by Edwin Francisco, 39, from Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, was heading south in the opposite lane.
According to reports, Francisco’s truck suddenly veered into the opposite lane upon reaching Barangay Poblacion, leading to the fatal collision with Manjac’s motorcycle. The impact of the crash threw both riders onto the pavement, resulting in severe injuries.

Emergency responders rushed the victims to Danao City Provincial Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Tragically, Manjac was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Gadje succumbed to her injuries later that morning.
Legal Actions and Investigation
Following the incident, Francisco was taken into custody and is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Liloan Police Station. Authorities are considering charging him with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and property damage.
Liloan Police Chief, Police Major Eric Gingoyon, stated that the family of the deceased individuals would decide whether to pursue legal action against the arrested suspect.
