**Teenager Killed in Tragic Car Crash in Rural Dixon**

**An Eldena teenager tragically lost her life in a devastating one-vehicle accident that occurred on a rural gravel road just six miles north of Dixon.**

**The victim, identified as 17-year-old Kaysi Jane Schaeffer, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Wednesday evening. Ogle County Coroner Lou Finch confirmed the heartbreaking news on Friday, shedding light on the unfortunate incident that took place on West Henry Road, east of the intersection with Lowell Park Road.**

**According to a news release from the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred around 8:40 p.m. when Schaeffer’s vehicle was travelling west on West Henry Road towards Lowell Park Road. Tragically, she lost control on the gravel road, causing the vehicle to enter the south ditch and overturn.**

**Despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel on the scene, Schaeffer succumbed to her injuries. A juvenile passenger who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash was taken to KSB Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.**

**Polo firefighters and EMS personnel, along with Mt. Morris firefighters, provided assistance at the scene of the tragic incident, highlighting the community’s solidarity in times of adversity.**
